Next week in Philadelphia

EDUCAUSE annual conference, 2017Will any of you be in Philadelphia next week, for the annual EDUCAUSE conference?

I’ll be there and doing a bunch of things:

A preconference workshop on automation in education.  The main focus here is twofold: on automation in creativity, and how institutions can best respond. (Tuesday, October 31, 12:30-4:00 pm; Meeting Room 102A/B, 100 Level)

A presentation on digital literacy.  From the official text:

This session will review the state of digital literacy, based on extensive research, interviews with thought leaders, and the NMC 2016 survey and 2017 update. We will discuss various institutional digital literacy programs and explore major issues, including domain knowledge, fake news, new forms of authority, students as producers, and the impact of libraries.

It’s only an hour, but will be interactive as all get out, as people know who’ve experienced my events.  (Wednesday, November 1, 2:00pm – 2:50pm; Meeting Room 102A/B, 100 Level)

A live Future Trends Forum event.  We’ll check in with some guests and visitors about their experience with the conference: what ideas they’re hearing, what they hope to take away. (Wednesday, November 1, 3:00pm – 4:00pm; location TBA, but virtually accessible)

I’d be delighted to see readers at those events, or elsewhere in the conference.  I plan to rove around from sessions to meetings.  Keep an eye out, and don’t be shy to introduce yourself if we haven’t met before.

If you’re going, travel safely!
