Last month the EDUCAUSE media team asked me two really good questions during a video interview: where is the greatest inequality in higher education, and what keeps my optimism going? I answered in just over 3 minutes.

Many call themselves “futurists” — Bryan actually knows how to do it.
Is @BryanAlexander a wizard because he wrote about the possibility of a pandemic in 2018? He says he has a beard like one.
“Hardest working man in edtech!”
Gotta love @BryanAlexander‘s ability to catalyze a conversation without leaning on hyperbole or triggers.
This is so well-structured and thoughtful that it almost made me forget I was terrified while reading it.
When @BryanAlexander is futuring about you, you’d better start futuring yer own dang self!
Your prescience is wild.

I really enjoyed listening to your views and summation of this topic Bryan. Thanks for sharing it. You did a great job and I love your closing comments. I’m sending this along to my 18yr old nephew.
Thank you very much, Phil.
I look forward to your nephew’s reaction.
Pingback: Reasons to be optimistic about the future in 2017 | Bryan Alexander
Hi Bryan
I’m one of the displaced workers from the 2008 financial crisis that responded to President Obama’s 2010 call to retrain in community college. Although 2/3 of California’s Community College students are “adult learners” my four college district in Oakland CA is still unprepared for adult students. Intake, assessment, counseling and libraries are all closed at night (except for a few shifting hours at the start of semesters). I can go on and on about the barriers still in place. While Governor Brown has restored some funding, it is fought for and distributed by identity groups not social class.
