Today is the beginning of new venture, as I launch Bryan Alexander Consulting.
As you might expect, this is a consulting enterprise.
BAC focuses on how technology transforms education. To help people and institutions cope with and strategize this transition I perform a variety of services: presentations, speeches, workshops, meeting facilitating, futures exercises, webinars, white papers, reports, guides, all sorts of digital activities, and still more to come (here’s a hint). You can find information about BAC services here.
Being futures-oriented, BAC work involves a great deal of continuous research, which my blogging on this very page reflects. I share my thoughts and discoveries here, discussing topics with commentators and respondents, like a Web-based, real-time think tank. That isn’t typical consulting practice, but I’m doing things a little differently.
This work will live on the open Web as far as people let me, here and elsewhere.
Launching this represents a huge change in my life. BAC is now my more-than-full-time job.
And yet some things won’t alter as much. I still live in Vermont and work from my home office, traveling frequently. I continue to serve as one of the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education (NITLE) Fellows. I continue my decades of work with liberal arts colleges, but now expand to engage with all of higher education.
Still, this is a big shift. I’ve worked with NITLE for more than a decade. Before that, I was a college professor.
Now… I’m inventing a new path forward, mixing together the skills and knowledge I’ve developed into a different form. Call it a project, or an experiment, a 21st-century endeavor, or simply the enterprise upon which I now stake my career.
BAC already has a roster of clients, a wide-ranging schedule of speaking engagements, and publications in the pipeline, but I’m very glad to hear from you. Use the comment box below or click to this private contact form to share your reactions, advice, requests, and expressions of interest.
Onward!
Congratulations, I know BAC will be a big success!
Sounds like a great adventure, Bryan. Congrats and good luck!
Best of luck in the new venture!
Thank you, Steve. Let me know what I can do to help Vassar.
Thank you, sarspri and Val.
Congrats, Bryan! I was just about to get in touch with you for an interview (to help me parse out a few concepts), but I imagine your hands are full for now!
Actually, an interview would be good, Gerry. What’s your timeline?
Timeline is pretty tight. I’m trying to complete a script but having trouble making the leap between a couple concepts. Thinking you could add some insight. Do you have any time for a Skype or phone call between now and Friday evening?
If not, no worries. We can catchup next week.
I can do tonight or tomorrow morning. What’s your time zone?
I moved our conversation to e-mail. I’m on MT.
From Jules Verne: “The Nautilus was piercing the water with its sharp spur, after having accomplished nearly ten thousand leagues in three months and a half, a distance greater than the great circle of the earth. Where were we going now, and what was reserved for the future?”
I think the Captain is on course, and we’ll learn the answers to those questions soon enough.
Many thanks for the very apposite quote, Tom.
Best wishes to you always! You are one of the best speakers I ever had the pleasure of listening to and learning from!!!
You’re very kind, Monica.
Congratulations Bryan, and best of luck with BAC!
Thank, Todd. I hope I can work with Southwestern.
Best wishes for your new adventure, Bryan. I’m sure it will go well. I’ll follow the blog with interest.
Thank you, jo!

If you are ever within a hundred miles of WV, I’d love to hear you speak and could arrange an adventure holiday including the drown town and the 2nd biggest single arch bridge in the world (diving, rafting, hiking, and zip lines galore!)
That sounds like fun, K.
What’s the bet way to reach you?
Congrats, Bryan! Sounds like an exciting change!
It is exciting, Jane – and thanks.

Congrats on the next step forward! You are such an amazing and valued resource. I look forward to crossing paths again with you via BAC…
Thank you, Tomas. I’m glad to bounce ideas with you.
This is excellent news. Hardly surprising given your work and I’m sure will be well-received by the Higher Ed community. Hope your consulting work will take you north. Would be great to welcome you in Montreal!
Thanks for saying that, Tom. I’d love to return to Montreal. Bring me!
Your voice has defined higher ed tech for the last decade, especially for those of us who spent our college years reading your blogs and research, and it’s exciting to see the growth of your ideas and conversations. Congratulations and good luck!
Many thanks for such outrageous praise, Jens.
Congratulations Bryan! I still remember your keynote at my first Northern Voice…something about ensuring there is a bit of mystery in the stories we share. Good luck, Michelle (from Rossland, BC)
Many thanks, Michelle, both for the good wishes and the memory. Mystery indeed!
Congratulations Bryan. Change is good… change is exciting… and change can be scary–not that I think you get scared about anything. Best to you, always.
Many thanks, Keiko. That means a lot to me.
