On students as critical makers

In October I had the good fortune to sit down with Steve Hargadon and discuss connections between digital literacy and educational making.

We touched on a lot of topics in a few minutes, including critical making, libraries, support ecosystems, inter-institutional collaboration, The Clash, one shocking technology, archiving, historical pedagogies and lessons, audience, collaboration, Bryan’s classes, Steve’s photos, and more.

One nice observation from Steve: “Critical thinking means there might be criticism.”

These are all contemporary issues that everyone is concerned about. In a few short minutes Steve told us about many student issues as well as new technologies. That was such a good and meaningful interview!
